Christian Bautista Is Asia's Multi-Platinum Pop Idol
From singing sensation to TV heartthrob, and now Asia's Multi-Platinum Pop Idol, Christian Bautista, the Philippines' charming crooner, has certainly come full circle: "At this point in my career, I am very happy and utterly complete. I couldn't ask for anything more."
But fans, who have coveted his 2004 triple platinum selling debut album, watched him land one commercial after another, and followed his lovelorn performance in the hit ABS-CBN fantasy-drama Kampanerang Kuba, are just about to get more gooey Christian Bautista goodness.
Completely, Christian's much awaited sophomore album is now in stores, and his admirers from the Philippines, Indonesia-where he had a sold-out concert, Malaysia and Thailand-where his very first single, "The Way You Look at Me," is still dominating their number 1 pop charts-will now have 12 new Christian Bautista songs they could swoon over. In fact, Completely will be simultaneously released in Indonesia-the land where he's broken most hearts besides the Philippines. The sophomore album turned gold on the first day of its release.
Christian Bautista's regional appeal is so strong that his Warner Music label is even going the extra mile for the UP graduate and putting out a limited international edition of Completely for all you Christian Bautista die-hards in the world. Besides the well-concieved packaging, the limited international edition will also have equally handsome photos of Christian shot here and in Indonesia.
Christian's international charm comes off on his new songs. He showcased his songwriting skills in two tracks, "Now That You Are Here" and "Please Don't Go. Three songs were by Andrew Fromm, the man behind Christian's hit ballad, "The Way You Look at Me." The first single, "Everything You Do," is a testament to the killer combination of Andrew's songwriting expertise and Christian's heartbreaking voice.
The song is creating a greater impact via a music video that pays tribute to Filipinos who have made their mark in the international scene. To keep up with this theme, Lara Quigaman who was recently proclaimed Miss International 2005, has been singled out to be Christian Bautista's leading lady in the music video. Matching Lara's international victory is Christian Bautista's self-titled debut CD that reached double platinum (100,000 units sold) in Indonesia.
Of the other seven songs in the Completely roster, two are ballads written by Indonesia's top composers, and there's also the upbeat pop single "She Could Be" that shows even a balladeer like Christian knows how to have a good time. Of course, the album won't be complete without the inclusion of Christian's delicious jingle for Greenwich, "Nais Ko."
The ABS-CBN Kapamilya and ASAP mainstay has officially launched on ASAP today his sophomore record, Completely and the accompanying music video for "Everything You Do." During the launch, Christian Bautista was presented a Gold Award for "Completely" by Ricky Ilacad, Managing Director, Warner Music Philippines, and a Double Platinum from Iman Sastrosatomo, Managing Director Warner Music Indonesia., for the debut album. Sending their best wishes to Christian Bautista via special video message were Lachie Rutherford, President of Warner Music Asia Pacific, and Pattanee Jareeyatana, Marketing Director, Warner Music Thailand.
Christian Bautista has become a leading export we lovesick Pinoys can all be proud of. Truly, he just keeps getting better the second time around.
