Do you think, we, the bloggers, should conform to the Journalists Code of Ethics?
-No?
-Yes?
Why?
This caught my attention. Good post.
my view:
The Journalist Code of Ethics may be written intended for journalists for them to maintain the integrity of journalism, yet as i reviewed the Journalist Code of Ethics there are some part of it which bloggers could adopt to maintain fair and balance view. like these:
VI. I shall not commit any act of plagiarism.
VII. I shall not, in any manner, ridicule, cast aspersions on, or degrade any person by reason of sex, creed, religious belief, political conviction, cultural and ethnic origin.
VIII. I shall presume persons accused of crime of being innocent until proven otherwise. I shall exercise caution in publishing names of minors and women involved in criminal cases so that they may not unjustly lose their standing in society.
other parts of Journalist Code of Ethics may be intended for journalism profession, yet could also be applied in blogging.
bloggers may not be journalists, but it doesn't mean that only journalists will observe the ethics.
bloggers are now part of the contemporary writing. they help a lot in opening views that journalists missed.
we must understand that writing is a gift. it must be shared. yet, we must also be responsible in sharing our views with or without the aid of rules and ethics.
