I assume that everyone has Google, Yahoo, Friendster and Bansalan on their bookmarks. But if you’re looking for a more educational and informative browsing experience, I suggest heading over to The Digital Pinoy.
But what exactly is The Digital Pinoy? For us to better understand what it is, let us try to see it from the eyes of one its members who goes by the name of Urahara.
“The Digital Pinoy or TDP as we call it is a virtual community that was founded by a man that goes by the avatar of “bloodredxxx”. He founded this virtual community with one goal in mind, to connect and bring together Filipinos from all over the world and from different walks of life. He envisioned that someday, through this virtual community, Filipinos will be able to connect and interact. Regardless of status, age, gender, and other obstacles that would normally hinder interaction.”
In my experience, I find TDP as a bubbling place for chatting and discussing ideas. TDP is a place to connect with my fellow Filipinos, read articles, get the hottest OPM mp3s, and discuss topics with fellow TDPers.
TDP is more than just your average forum site. Homura, a moderator of TDP, also shows another side of TDP:
“TDP for me is an ideal, an ideal that I salute. Like I said, TDP is an ideal, it’s a place where I used to enjoy and socialize in a sense, with the comfort of being distant.”
So, you may ask me, “What do I expect to find on TheDigitalPinoy.com?”
There are several interesting features in this virtual Pinoy community:
• The Digital Pinoy has ShoutLite or SL, where you can talk and mingle with other online members from all walks of life from different parts of the world. Don’t know any other TDP member? No need to worry, everybody is your friend here.
• TDP isn’t also that far behind when it comes to personalized profiles. Love Friendster? You’ll also love TDP. Post your own pictures using the Avatar frames available in the TDP Shop. Show your personal style by spicing up your profile with your own signature. Creative TDP members can also help you trick your profile out.
• Having a hard time finding the latest OPM mp3s? The always-updated TDP Linkshare offers an unending list of your favorite OPM mp3s – love songs, soundtracks, full albums – you’ll find them all there.
• Last but not the least, of course, is the forum. A wide variety of threads flood the TDP. The computer savvy member will enjoy threads in the Computer and Technology Section, while one can discuss just about anything and everything under the sun in the “Let’s Talk” section. Whatever suits you, it’s there.
To top it all off, membership is free! It doesn’t get any better than this, does it?
Sa akin po, ok na ito para sa school publication namin...
Pero, para sa ibang TDPers na gustong ibandila ang TDP thru this article... Pwede po nila itong dagdagan ng iba pang inpormasyon...
I would like to encourage our writers to post here some articles about TDP na pwede i-share sa iba, for example, post in their blogs, websites or emails..
@mystiq:
you could try making your version of tristan's article, then PM mo nalang sa kanya.. malay mo yun inputs mo eh mapapaganda pa lalo yun article niya diba?
@tristan:
uy kung may papatulong ka pa, sabihin mo lang.. (psst, yun usapan natin ah.. joke lang uy..)
I'll see what I can do... I was thinking kung pwede siyang ilagay sa Wikipedia di ba? Madami na rin kasing online communities ang naglalagay ng article nila sa wiki format. That way pwede siyang maiupdate anytime anywhere.
But of course madaming kailangan palitan pag ganoon...
@young: thanks for the advice... baka nga gumawa siguro muna ako ng sarili kong article about TDP... namimiss ko na rin kasing magsulat ng article eh hehe.
My say is, don't EVER forget to cite your source when you quote. That my good friend, will be subject to plagiarism. Even if I am the one coaching you, if you don't quote me properly for using my quote then I can sue you. (This is a reminder to you btw, it's for your own good. Trust me.)
Also, if you forget to quote on articles, your "quotes" loses impact and validity. Why? it might appear as though you generated those quotes to make your article better, as well as get your links posted at the bottom of your article. This way, it makes your article credible even if your sources are intangible.
(so don't forget to put "-Urahara of thedigitalpinoy.com and Homura of thedigitalpinoy.com)
Another thing to mention is you have to post the good AND the bad with a website because it IS a review. If you plan to rewrite, I will be happy to help you out again.
----- to where sleep goes, off it goes, nobody knows. How it shows, only he would know. Why is it so?
wow, ang galing! kung baga sa endorser ng isang product or shall we say a commercial eh nakaka-engganio sana nga mas lumawak pa ang komunidad ng TDP all over da world..

o yeah. i forgot to mention this..
@tristan.
i must say, homura-sama's reminder kinda made me realize you did not properly quote me either. reminder lang my friend. considering one's input is one thing, but passing one's words as your own is another. ika nga ni homura-sama, "if you don't quote me properly for using my quote then I can sue you". pare ko, quote mo lang ng maayos ok na ako. salamat.
@mystiq:
you can write your own article of course, that'll be nice. share mo agad kapag meron na ah
Always consider your audience, your style, structure, parallelism, and of course, sources.
If you write in first person then everything should be in first person.
Btw, you can technically sue yourself if you misquote yourself (lol, but why would you do that? haha). You can also technically plagiarize your own work if you fail to cite it properly (lol, it sounds contradictory but technically it CAN happen though). So you should always cite properly.
Other than that, if you have a rewrite of your article or something, feel free to ask me to critique.
