MANILA, Philippines – Still fresh from winning his fourth NBA title with the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant will be heading for the Manila later this month as part of a six-city tour sponsored by Nike.

Bryant will make his first stop in the Philippines on July 21 and thereafter proceed to Singapore, Taipei (Taiwan), Hong Kong and Shanghai and Chengdu in China, according to a statement from Nike.

The Lakers star has toured Asia every summer since 2006 and last visited Manila in 2007. In 2008, he went on tour as part of the USA Basketball team leading up to the Beijing Olympics, where he and other NBA stars earned gold medals.

This year’s tour, according to Nike, offers Kobe a chance to check back in with the young players he met on previous tours and meet up and coming players.

“I'm looking forward to returning to Asia to see the progress the kids have made since my last visit,” said Bryant.

“I liked what I saw then and I’m planning to work the kids even harder to give them a better sense of the dedication and hard work it takes to be a champion.”

Nike is also this month the “Nike Dream Season”, which is part of Bryant’s signature shoe collection sold exclusively in Asia.

Bryant, arguably, is on the best team. He has the best supporting unit in the game. He's a month removed from picking up that fourth ring, and despite his 30 (soon to be 31) years of age, he's hardly on the downside of his career. There are several rumors going around as well that the Mavs will sign Marcin Gortat in maybe a 3-5 year deal.
Therefore Dampier will be expendable, a trade with Detroit for Hamilton will be the move Cuban will take into consideration.
Along with Stack's expiring contract the Mavs may still have one move left to fill their holes.

The Celtics may have gone out with a coup de grace to entice rasheed, but i personally think that eventually he would choose San Antonio since he is more guaranteed to start and play a more significant role in the Spurs' campaign. Come to think of it, Rasheed is such a proud veteran who may not agree with the idea of coming off the bench for Kendrick Perkins. Besides, the league would be better served if TD21 is flanked alongside Rasheed, giving the Spurs a better shot at spoiling the Lakers.

I also think that the Cavs should also agressively go after 'Sheed. Cleveland's weakest spot is the PF position, and getting 'Sheed would definitely change all that. Imagine a frontline of 'Sheed and Shaq! Forget about their ages, they're still formidable both individually and combined. But the Cavs should now forego of Ilgauskas and try retaining Andy Varejao. With Shaq around, Ilgauskas is now expendable as he might not be receptive with the idea of subbing for Shaq after years of playing as the Cav's starting center. Why not work a sign and trade for 'Sheed using Z as one of the baits? I dont know how it can possibly work.
